Who we are
Satchel & Boot is a South African management consulting firm that closes the control gap - the distance between what is actually happening in an organisation and what leadership can see and act on in time. We fuse data analytics, business analytics, business intelligence, and geospatial intelligence into one integrated delivery model that makes performance visible, measurable, and improvable.
The result is a firm that can take an organisation from fragmented data and reactive governance to a live, decision-ready operating picture - and prove the difference with outcomes, not decks.
Our story
Brendon Levendig founded Satchel & Boot in 2016, as its sole director and shareholder. Its real point of inflection came through the Gordon Institute of Business Science: Brendon met Liesl de Swardt through the GIBS MBA in 2021 and 2022, and Saildon Sivnanden at a GIBS event. Liesl joined as a co-founder in 2022, and Saildon in 2023. That is when Satchel & Boot, as it exists today, took shape.
We are a proudly South African firm, and we backed ourselves. We set our own vision and direction, and we have been the ones to push it - bootstrapped, self-funded, and built from scratch on our own terms.

What holds Satchel & Boot together is a combination that should not obviously work. We are an eclectic group from genuinely different fields, and we work uniquely well together. Out of the ordinary individually, we produce extraordinary work as a team - each bringing talent and drive that are beautifully different, pushing, pulling and challenging in the same direction. That is what we believe is our real competitive advantage.

The discipline we bring into a client engagement is the discipline we hold ourselves to first: our own operating system, the Satchel, is a proprietary AI-powered pipeline that makes us faster, sharper, and more accountable.
The Engine Room
Detail
We are building the Engine Room, our own on-premise facility: compute, storage and AI owned outright and kept inside South Africa. From January 2027 it will run the firm, host what we make, and keep data in the country and under our control.

Business Analytics as a Service
Aligns processes and performance to outcomes through structured measurement, analysis, and continuous improvement. Includes process mapping and mining, KPI frameworks, variance analysis, scenario planning, and benefits tracking.
BIaaS
Business Intelligence as a Service
Delivers a live operating picture: dashboards, alerts, and embedded insights, so decisions are timely, consistent, and actionable. Includes executive and operational dashboards, governed self-service, anomaly detection and alerts, and embedded analytics.
GIS
Geospatial Intelligence
Captures the spatial dimension of operations in the field and wires it into every other discipline, so location becomes a live input to decisions. Includes survey construction, field data capture and QA, operational map dashboards, spatial analysis, asset and network mapping, and integration with DAaaS, BAaaS and BIaaS.

LUMA - giving back to South Africa

LUMA - Linking Up Minds to Action, and meaning ignite - is our foundation and a registered non-profit company (NPC). The conviction behind it is simple: talent is not the problem in South Africa. Access is - access to facilities, and access to opportunity.
Satchel & Boot registered LUMA and funds it, while it is run by carefully selected members who sit entirely independently of the firm. We pledge a portion of our future revenue to LUMA, so that as we grow, more flows directly back to the South Africans who need it most. It is also an invitation to the organisations we work with: the work we deliver carries something further with it, a portion that flows through LUMA into opportunity for those who need it.

Where we deliver
We deliver from Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Cape Town - embedded inside the client operation rather than working from the outside. The Boots model means our people sit alongside yours, close to how the work actually runs, whether that is on-site or as a remote team wired into your daily cadence. The proximity is the point: we shape the work to the reality on the ground, not to a borrowed picture of it.
